Games

Yahtzee. Uno. Sorry. Poker.

All were on the tables Sunday night before the teens at St. Mary's Youth Center. Somehow it didn't seem old fashioned. There was conversation, eye contact, laughter, a buzz filling the space. In this time relationships were forming ever so slowly. Guards lowered, ear buds were pocketed, and authenticity was revealed.

The environment was irresistible. The groups were small. The fellowship was real.

As youth ministry shrinks from the youth group concept to a more intimate discipleship-focus, moments like this point toward the ever-continuing need for relationships. Relationships keep us accountable, coming back, and growing. We give. We take. We mess up. We fess up. We learn. We love.

The mode of ministry might be changing, but the message remains constant. Christ is central, and He is the leader of everything we do. Give us vision, Jesus, to know, love, and serve you in the relationships we build.
